UAE-Based ThrowMeNot Raises $550,000 Pre-Seed to Combat Food Waste

Dubai, UAEThrowMeNot, a sustainability-focused online marketplace addressing food waste, has raised $550,000 in a pre-seed funding round, led by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mana bin Khalifa Saeed Al Maktoum.

Founded in 2025 by Archie Rudyuk, ThrowMeNot is building a dedicated marketplace for near-expiry and surplus goods, enabling suppliers to recover value from inventory that would otherwise go to waste while offering consumers discounts of up to 90% off retail prices.

The newly raised capital will be used to expand the company’s team and scale delivery and fulfilment operations across the UAE, strengthening reliability and improving the customer experience as demand grows.

“In the UAE, an estimated 3.27 million tonnes of food are wasted annually. We founded ThrowMeNot to address this challenge by creating a solution that benefits both suppliers and consumers,” said Archie Rudyuk, Founder of ThrowMeNot. “Our platform enables suppliers to monetise near-expiry inventory while giving consumers access to affordable, high-quality products.”

ThrowMeNot currently works with over 25 suppliers, listing more than 2,700 products across categories including food, chocolates, beauty items, and vitamins. The platform features products from 885+ well-known brands, helping businesses reduce losses while supporting more conscious consumption.

The company’s model aligns with the UAE’s national sustainability goals, including the ambition to halve food waste by 2030, as outlined by the National Food Loss and Waste Initiative (ne’ma).

“ThrowMeNot’s mission strongly aligns with the UAE’s sustainability agenda,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Mana Al Maktoum, early investor in the company. “The platform not only helps suppliers recover value but also provides consumers with affordable food options, contributing to a more sustainable future across the region.”

Looking ahead, ThrowMeNot plans to scale its platform across the UAE before expanding into the wider MENA region. The company also aims to build a broader ecosystem of sustainability-driven products and services that extend beyond food, promoting conscious consumption across everyday categories.
