Dubai, UAE – October 2024: In a significant move to strengthen Dubai’s digital economy, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has signed a strategic agreement with Network International, a leading enabler of digital commerce across the Middle East and Africa. The partnership, announced at GITEX Global 2024, is set to accelerate the growth of SMEs and fintech companies, while enhancing the emirate’s digital payment infrastructure.
This collaboration aligns with Dubai’s ambitious D33 agenda, aimed at reinforcing its position as a premier global business and leisure hub. The partnership will facilitate greater access to finance and digital payment solutions for businesses, supporting Dubai’s goal to become the fastest-growing, most attractive destination for multinational corporations (MNCs), SMEs, and Emirati entrepreneurs.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of His Excellency Helal Almarri, Director General of DET, and Nandan Mer, Group CEO of Network International. Hadi Badri, CEO of Dubai Economic Development Corporation (DEDC), and Jamal Alnassai, Group Managing Director for Merchant Services – MENA at Network International, formalized the agreement.
Speaking at the event, H.E. Helal Almarri emphasized the importance of digital transformation in solidifying Dubai’s standing as a global leader in business innovation, while Nandan Mer highlighted the critical role digital payments play in fostering economic growth and empowering SMEs.
This partnership is expected to significantly contribute to Dubai’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its digital economy and provide vital support to entrepreneurs and small businesses operating within the emirate.
