Manama, Bahrain: Bahraini startup SOOR, a Bahrain-based insurtech platform Soor has secured a strategic investment from Spring, a venture studio and ecosystem builder backed by London-based global investment firm Salica and Bahrain’s Al Waha Fund of Funds, to accelerate its growth, strengthen product development, and expand its digital insurance platform.
Licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), Soor is part of Bahrain’s rapidly growing fintech and insurtech ecosystem. The platform enables customers to compare, select, and purchase insurance policies from leading insurers through a single digital application, making the insurance buying process faster, simpler, and more transparent.
Designed to eliminate the complexity traditionally associated with purchasing insurance, Bahraini startup SOOR allows users to compare policies from multiple providers and choose coverage that best meets their needs in less than a minute. The platform aims to deliver greater transparency, competitive pricing, and convenience while creating a seamless digital experience for consumers.
Soor was founded by Mahmood Dhaif, who brings more than a decade of experience across corporate and startup environments with a strong focus on business growth and innovation. He is joined by co-founder Qasim Albaqali, an experienced software engineering leader specializing in software architecture, engineering management, and scalable technology solutions.

“We built Soor to simplify insurance for customers by helping them find policies that match their needs in less than a minute, from leading insurance companies in Bahrain. For insurers, Bahraini startup SOOR creates a stronger digital channel to reach, serve, and understand customers better.”
He added:
“With Spring’s investment, we can accelerate our mission to support the digital transformation of insurance and deliver greater value to the market.”
Dhaif noted that beyond policy comparison, Soor serves as a digital bridge between customers and insurance providers, making insurance more accessible, efficient, and customer-centric across Bahrain.
The investment aligns with Spring’s strategy of supporting founders developing technology-driven solutions to address market inefficiencies. The venture studio believes Soor is well-positioned to transform how consumers interact with insurance services in Bahrain and across the region.
Zainab Khamis, Managing Director of Spring, said:
“Insurance is an essential service, yet the experience has long been fragmented and difficult to navigate. Soor addresses this challenge with a clear and scalable solution, and we believe Mahmood and his team are well-positioned to drive meaningful change in Bahrain and beyond.”
Following the investment, Bahraini startup SOOR plans to enhance its platform capabilities, expand partnerships with insurance providers, and further improve the customer experience. The company will also strengthen its presence in Bahrain while exploring regional expansion opportunities as digital adoption across financial services continues to accelerate.
