Blockscout, the leading open-source block explorer for all EVM-based chains, has successfully closed a $3 million seed round led by 1kx. The funding round also saw participation from notable investors such as Primitive Ventures and Gnosis, along with angel investors including Evan Van Ness, Alex Svanevik, Kartik Talwar, Anton Bukov, and Stefan George.
With this new capital infusion, Blockscout plans to accelerate the development of its product suite, focusing on enhancing user experience through the integration of social elements and AI-enabled tools directly into its dashboard. The funds will also support the expansion of their Explorer-as-a-Service (EaaS) offering, making deployment more accessible and customizable for new projects, while deepening their involvement with existing chains.
Block explorers have become essential tools for accessing reliable blockchain data, but high fees and limited customizability have made many of them inaccessible to various chains. Blockscout aims to revolutionize this space by offering open-source and universally accessible tools that cater to a wide range of users, from developers to everyday consumers. Currently, Blockscout covers over 600 networks, providing a comprehensive suite for exploring, confirming, and inspecting transactions, along with robust developer tools and a user-friendly portal.
“Blockscout will be the default setting for all new and existing EVM chains,” said Igor Barinov, Founder and CEO of Blockscout. “We are on our way to becoming the main platform for verifying all information on blockchains and exploring dApps in a secure way. As one of the few open-source players, we offer unmatched transparency and accessibility that benefits everyone in the crypto space.”
Nichanan Kesonpat, Research Analyst at 1kx, emphasized the importance of Blockscout’s mission, stating, “Block explorers have long been a staple tool for the web3 ecosystem—providing visibility into on-chain activity and transactions for developers, analysts, and end-users alike. Blockscout’s open-source EVM explorer and tools enable nascent projects to host their own explorer, offering a cost-effective alternative to expensive EaaS solutions.”
Blockscout’s appeal extends particularly to Layer 2 (L2) solutions, thanks to features like support for smart wallet transactions and advanced API integration. The platform has become the go-to solution for Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS) providers such as Conduit, AltLayer, Gelato, Chainstack, and Astria, who rely on Blockscout to offer a block explorer out of the box. Major blockchain players like Arbitrum, Filecoin, Optimism, Base, and Immutable have also formed long-standing partnerships with Blockscout, with some collaborations spanning multiple years.
Blockscout has been a close collaborator with Optimism for over two years, providing critical data for the Bedrock upgrade and earning a Retro Grant from the community in recognition of their contributions. The platform recently announced a new integration with Arbitrum One, facilitating easy access to data related to DAOs, NFTs, and dApps across the Arbitrum ecosystem.
