Wink Pay Launches Lebanon’s First Fully Digital Instant Card Issuance Service in Partnership with Visa and Codebase Technologies
Initiative Aims to Enhance Financial Inclusion and Accessibility to Digital Payments for Underserved Communities
Lebanese paytech startup, Wink Pay, has joined forces with global payments giant Visa and banking solutions provider Codebase Technologies to introduce Lebanon’s maiden fully digital instant card issuance service for Visa prepaid virtual cards.
The collaboration seeks to bolster financial inclusion in Lebanon by empowering citizens to manage their payments securely and transparently for both local and international transactions, without the necessity of a traditional bank account. The initiative particularly targets underserved communities and rural areas, aiming to bridge the gap in financial access.
Wink Pay’s offerings extend beyond basic functionalities, incorporating features such as virtual card personalization tools, card-loading agent location tools, and eKYC (electronic know your customer) verification.
Mario Makary, Vice President for the Levant region at Visa, lauds the significance of Wink Pay’s new virtual cards offering, highlighting its capacity to enable customers to instantly create and access digital payments, thereby enhancing the overall customer experience.
Makary underscores the importance of Visa’s secure global payments infrastructure and advanced fraud prevention capabilities, ensuring customers’ peace of mind regarding the safety and security of their transactions.
The choice of Dubai-based Codebase Technologies for its cloud-native, API-first digital banking solution, Digibanc, underscores Wink Pay’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology for its offerings. Digibanc will serve as the foundational technology stack for Wink Pay’s digital payment service.
Wink Pay‘s collaboration with Codebase Technologies marks the latest addition to a burgeoning roster of financial institutions tapping into the firm’s banking tech solutions.
Noteworthy among these is Bahrain Commercial Facilities Company’s recent unveiling of its new lending app, developed in collaboration with Codebase Technologies and Atyaf eSolutions.
